During the World War II, Japanese troops forced women from the countries they occupied to become “comfort women”, or more factually, military prostitutes, against these women’s will. Some high school girls were simply kidnapped on their way to school and sent to frontline. This happened in Taiwan as well as other Asian countries.

Unlike the other countries, to whose “comfort women” Japan has officially apologized and compensated, Taiwan’s “comfort women” was never given the justice they deserve. Some people, from both Taiwan and Japan, even claimed that these women became “comfort women” willingly.

Recently a statue of “comfort woman” was erected to commemorate the women who suffered this unspeakable atrocity in Tainan, Taiwan. Soon after, a visiting Japanese official kicked the statue while having a photographer to record his action.

Just imaging if a Japanese kicks the memorial at the sunken Arizona at Pearl Harbor.

When you don’t even have the decency to apologize for your past deeds you'll never learn or mature as a country and past tragedies will be repeated in the future. Here a visiting Japanese right-winger stomps on a statue honoring these military sex slaves.
